Rajshahi University Removes Provost Following Attack on Journalists

The Rajshahi University administration has immediately relieved Professor Mahbubur Rahman, provost of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall, following the attack on journalists at the university. The administration has also instructed the investigation committee to submit its report within three working days.

The administration said those found responsible for the attack would be temporarily suspended, and their names would be included in the charge sheet of the case. It also said that the certificates of accused individuals who are no longer university students could be revoked, and they could be barred from entering the campus. Action will also be taken against those who instigated or encouraged the attack.

Earlier, at least 10 people, including four journalists, were injured in the attack. In protest, three journalists' organizations working at the university have announced a boycott of administrative activities until the investigation report is submitted.
